Who is a Notary Public?

Notary Public is a state-appointed official authorized to verify identities, witness signatures, and administer oaths to help prevent fraud in legal and financial documents. In Minnesota, notaries are commissioned by the Secretary of State and must follow state laws under Chapter 359.

What types of notary services do you offer?

We offer general notary services, including acknowledgments, jurats, oaths/affirmations, and certified copies (where permitted). We also provide mobile and remote online notarizations, real estate closings, loan signings, apostille facilitation, and business document support such as powers of attorney, affidavits, contracts, and corporate resolutions.

Please see Services for more details.

Why is notarization important?

Notarization helps deter fraud by verifying the identity of the signer, ensuring they are signing willingly and are aware of the document’s contents. It adds a layer of trust and legal validity, making the document more likely to be accepted by courts, government agencies, and financial institutions.

What Is Apostille Service?

An apostille is a certificate issued by the Secretary of State that authenticates the signature, title, and seal of a public official on a document for use in countries that are members of the Hague Apostille Convention. Apostille services are typically needed for documents like birth certificates, powers of attorney, or notarized agreements being sent abroad. In Minnesota, apostilles are issued under Minnesota Statutes § 5.15.

Is Veritas & Vault a law firm?

No, Veritas & Vault LLC is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice. While some members of our team have legal education and experience, we are not licensed attorneys and do not represent clients in legal matters. We provide notary public and corporate legal support services only.

Does notarization make a document legally binding?

Notarization does not make a document legally binding on its own. It simply verifies the identity of the signer, confirms they signed willingly, and helps deter fraud. A document’s legal enforceability depends on its content, applicable laws, and whether all legal requirements are met—not just notarization.
